Thank goodness that the electorate in Marin and Sonoma County is smarter then "Misty" Judy Arnold!
The real question is, "Is SHE telling the truth!" Who is paying her off. Who is in her pockets or pants and why would an alleged Public Servant try to deny her constituents an effective and eco- friendly transportation system? Judy, you are definitely headed down the wrong track here and your
ludicrous position will bite you in the a-s! The ONLY question you raise that makes any sense is the prposed bike path. SMART had to except that as part from the Bike coalition as a political deal in exchange for their support. With the being said, I think the set-backs are much to close to an active railroad where passenger trains are going by at 80 and freight trains at 60 mph. Trains, like cars and trucks have accidents and often end up of the highway or ROW and cause property damage. SMART doesn't have deep pockets and it only takes ONE accident to pose a huge liability risk. Allowing bikes on SMART will solve the problem of cyclists wanting access to stations along the line. There are enough roads and sidewalks paralleling the tracks now for someone to walk or Bike from San Rafael to Cloverdale. You can access any CALTRAIN Station on the Peninsula via Bike or foot without a path next to the tracks. Bikes are also allowed on the trains. Caltrains has already had a dozen trespassing fatalities in the last year even with a ROW totally fenced off!
