Phoney anti-rail environmentalists in bed with libertarian's from oil company funded legal foundations? It's not the highway lobby, it the thing you are addicted to that get's you down the highway lobby (oil?). Can you say: "front groups", PR firms, and law firms? Bought and paid for? This where all of the NWP versus SMART bull is coming from..... Just another front in their continuous dis-information campaign.

I was just up there, most folks are sick of these phoney's and nimby jerks. These people are being outed as phoney "liberal" environmentalists, and the connection to the "libertarian" nimby oil company supported individuals is now pretty well known. The support for rail in the North Bay is growing, and is likely to prevail, in the long run. People are sick of $4.50 gasoline (yes in most of Marin still). And, the ferry's are getting more popular to get to the City, where traffic and parking make your car a liability, not an asset.

The SMART sales tax is likely to pass unless that idiot Governor and the idiotic legislature puts the"temporaty" sales tax in place. Then that won't be a victory for these phoney environmentalists and their equally phoney right wing oil company allies. It will be a victory for the fact that people are even more fed up with Sacramento. Which, by the way, will steal even more money from transportation this year, about $2+ billion? This will also doom every other transportation sales tax, too.

The market for transportation will determine the eventual feasibility of Eureka or not. You'd rather have five hundred trucks full of trash on the 101 every day? The market for some local rail services exists today, and those trucks come off of 101. Compatible rail freight and passenger service, along with safe shared use of right of way can easily be done, if there is a will. All of this SMART vs. NCRA bull is being put out by a small group of the usual anti-rail trolls.
