The website of the New York Central Historical Society has several downloadable pdf s about the design and road testing of the 6000s.
Interesting that S-1 S-2 and S-3 had already been used for electric locos out of Grand Central and those were still in use- so an S-2 hands off to an S-1a at Harmon.
And NYCHS is advertising a book "Know Thy 6000s" or some such, to be out real soon.
