I also walked out on it the summer before it burned. The wood section wasn't in very good condition. Water was sloshing back and forth through a lot of the pilings. If they are really going to use it they would have to completely rebuild the section of the trestle that was made of wood. Note that the wood portion of the trestle was only about 1/4 of the whole bridge. The rest of the trestle section was already converted to concrete. I would assume that they will rebuild the rest of it like that. With that in mind, when I saw the TV news report the night of the fire the first thing I thought was it was an interesting way of dealing with the major waste disposal problem they were going to have when they rebuilt the trestle. Now I wonder if they will even bother with removing the the old pilings.
