I remember part of the trestle had sunk where it met the concrete section. The rails and ties were dangling in the air.
There was also evidence a previous fire on the last steel span that got hot enough to kink the rail.
Was looking at pics tonight. All the rail was welded on the bridge and the head profile looked relatively new. SP must dropped some dough into the line before abandoning it.
Does anyone remember the searchlight signals west of the willow road crossing being lit up yellow 24hrs a day for years?
