I could (nominally) see having 2472 come to the celebration as P8s were assigned to the Overland Route.

That said, for historical accuracy and representation of both the Central Pacific and Union Pacific, nothing compares to or beats to the 119 and Jupiter replicas at the Golden Spike National Historic Site.

If the UP ran just one of its own steam locomotives from Oakland or Sacramento to Ogden and then points east of Ogden, that would impress most citizens who come to watch the train pass through or participate in any festivities. I doubt most people except die-hard railfans would feel diminished without 4449.

Representation of SP can also be accomplished with 1996. Alternatively, perhaps UP could paint another diesel to commemorate the Central Pacific.
