Boy are you rail fans gullible.
SMART asked the sentence be REMOVED.
That sentence was:
"Freight train operations and gravel mining, facilitated by Measure Q, would
severely damage the Eel River and its threatened salmon and steelhead."
Judge TWEAKED the sentence to:
"NCRA freight trains and gravel mining, if facilitated by SMART,
might damage the Eel River and its threatened salmon and steelhead."
This was a major victory for rail opponents, who have limited financial
resources to educate the public about rail-freight-Island Mtn Quarry.
The judge just vetted and allowed these connections to be made.
And you folks concerned about misuse of taxpayer funds should be
outraged that they used your dollars to finance this kind of legal
bs.
Watch what happens as the campaign unfolds. The voters will become
much more aware of the connections between SMART and freight
and NWP Co. ties to Island Mtn Quarry. Voters will then decide for
themselves, whether that connection is enough for them to oppose
the rail tax.
At least they'll know about the connections.
