State only wanted people to work for Medicaid, which is a welfare program for healthcare, medicare is the system for the elderly, they were not advocating working for that. Both systems frequently get confused back and forth -- sometimes on purpose -- by our political leaders who want to expand both. Advice to all, get a medicare supplement plan to pick up the gap between what they cover. It will pay for itself rather quickly. Saved my parents a fortune. AARP and AMAC both offer inexpensive plans with good coverage. Keeps you from derailing your senior years of railfanning. (See, got railroads into this after all!)
