I can't speak to the issues raised about rail service in Orange County, but as for commuter service to Santa Barbara I can.
First, let me say that BOB2 knows nothing. I live in Santa Barbara and have worked with Dennis Story, Paul Dyson and Richard Silver for over 2 years now. They have held meetings, met with newspapers, elected official etc. AND THE UNION PACIFIC!!!!
Nobody has said it can't be done or that it would not help traffic congestion on 101.
Becasue of their efforts and the efforts of 100's of folks along the proposed route, we seem to be moving the issue forward.
Yes, it is harder that we expected. But one thing we havn't had to deal with is people like BOB2. He claims to be a supporter. I've read his other posts, what is he in favor of? And why should we listen to someone that will not tell us who he is? We should all ignore him.
If you would like more information, Call E-mail Dennis Story at
dstory@cox.net. He is the one leading the effort and is a director of RailPAC.
Or you can call Richard Silver at the Sacramento RailPAC office 916-833-4218 or at
RicSilver@aol.com. Ask him to send the RailPAC "Santa Barbara Commute Train" position paper. It has all the information.
BOB2 should be the first to call.
Sincerely
Alex Bettencourt
