I have been told on good authority that Mr. Art Leahy, CEO of OCTA, supports our call for a complete review of the LOSSAN schedules rather than tinkering with a couple of midday trains. While on paper the midday trains in question appear to have plenty of recovery time, on the three recent occasions I have ridden them they needed all of it and more. And you should also know that the Metro and NCTD folks immediately called for additional stops in their counties on these same two trains.
Bob2, sometimes you have to offer constructive criticism. We're not here to be cheerleaders. I am constantly being thanked by staff and Board members for raising issues that they cannot, and for keeping people's feet to the fire. The bottom line for me is that we need local and semi fast services. The Surfliners are not built for local service, nor should Surfliner paying passengers suffer overcrowding and multiple stops for $2 a ride Rail to Rail riders. That's why we are calling for a complete review, to allocate the resources we have more effectively.
