Not much can be said about this turn of events. Unfortunately the most interesting ride for a tourist train would have south of Eureka through Loleta tunnel, along the Eel River through Fortuna and Scotia to South Fork and Humboldt Redwoods State Park. All of that is pretty much beyond the scope funding a rebuild, especially the Scotia Bluff and Shively tunnels. Rail around the Bay might be great for running restored equipment but water and grassland paralleling a highway at 10 mph doesn't do much for a tourist draw. I wonder what the property owners along this "Great Redwood Trail" are thinking?
