Something I have never forgotten is meeting a logging truck on the narrow dirt road over Stampede Pass.
In 1998 I was up there railfanning in my little pickup.
I was slowly climbing the west side of the pass on a narrow straight stretch and met an oncoming truck doing maybe 35 to 40 mph. I had a few seconds to pull over. The truck didn't slow a bit and was inches away when he passed.
Though that was 20 years ago, the memory is still vivid and it shakes me up a little to remember how close I was to being killed that day.
Is it my responsibility to monitor the CB channel? I don't have a CB radio.
Do logging trucks have some special right-of-way on those roads that I am not aware of?
