I remember that piece...what sticks in my mind is one passage where the dispatcher asked the steam crew how they were doing, and the crew held the radio mike out the cab window aimed at the stack for a minute or so.

Yreka Western used their #19 as a backup for their diesels on numerous occassions, and when they still had freight up to this past winter they routinely had to switch freight cars around in Montegue to free up the run-around tracks.
