Granted, the glory days of rail traffic in and out of the Napa Junction area are over (Napa Pipe trains, Rabanco garbage trains, and wheat blocks for General Mills) but by no means is the CFNR operation in Solano and Napa counties dead. Still enough carload business online - namely wine, beer, lumber, pumice, gas, and feed - to warrant a six-day-a-week Fairfield Switcher and a five-day-a-week Napa Switcher.
As for connecting roads, it is my understanding that the Napa Valley Railroad contributes approximately 50 cars of interchange annually. And the jury is still out on the amount of interchange that a revived NWP would contribute.
