Then you must be talking about the Niles Sub. The Niles Sub. runs from Newark, via Centerville & Niles to 10th St. in Oakland. The only other alternative to this is the Coast Sub. from Elmhurst to Newark via Mulford and beyond. The Milpitas Industrial Lead, North Milpitas Industrial Lead, and San Jose Industrail Lead were ex-WP and the rest were ex-SP. In the very beginning in 1991, the Capitol Corridor trains would, on occasion, go up the now Warm Springs Sub. and Warm Springs Industrial Lead from San Jose to Niles, then onto the now Niles Sub. to Oakland, but this was very limited, the normal route was the now Coast Sub. to Newark then the Niles Sub. to Oakland. When the Capitol Corridor started, the last train to San Jose at night would deadhead to Oakland for servicing and was usually the candidate to go via Warm Springs. I remember very well, the night the College Park Tower was closed in April of 1993, this set of equipment could not go via the Coast Sub. because of the signal cut-over (I was onsite when this was taking place), the the SP dispatcher sent the deadhead equipment via Warm Springs.
