Today I in - gated a loaded trailer at BNSF South Seattle, ( Tukwila ) WA. Among the LTL trailers loaded on spine cars were Estes, R & L, ABF, and UPS Freight, all long boxes waiting to be unloaded. I have also hauled YRC empty pups and long boxes to BNSF for rail - ing East. With the persistent truck driver shortage, many companies are keeping company drivers on inner city routes and the most profitable line runs, and farming out the rest. Sometimes the truckload carrier you see on the road is sub - hauling LTL freight for companies that have an imbalance of freight. This is why YRC rails empties East; their union line drivers get the same wage for empties as loads, but loads pay the bills.
