Greg,
I don't believe the Reno branch is severed as UP has been storing rolling stock on the line from Bordertown to Reno Jct and there is a local that runs from Sparks to Stead. In Reno, the branch used to connect to the UP(SP) main around Valley Rd., but with the construction of the railtrench downtown, the branch connection was moved to Sutro St.
