The two blue units were actually SD40s and were leased by the reincarnated NWPY until that operation was shut down in 2001, or thereabouts... At that time, the SD40s were owned either by EMDX or LLPX, but the ownership eventually transferred to LLPX if I remember correctly. During the summer of 2006, RailAmerica fronted the money to purchase the two SD40s outright, and thereafter they were renumbered and sublettered for California Northern. The two fell out of use as fuel costs increased, and eventually were transferred to the Central Oregon and Pacific, and later to the Kyle Railroad in the Kansas area.
