Got stuck with a Vega for about a year due to effects of Reaganomics--what a POS!
The Pinto may have been a firetrap, but it sure was a commercial success. Apparently, my '72 Mustang was a firetrap too, but I survived. (Hard to get rear-ended when you're going faster than everyone else!) 351 Cleveland, and still got 20 mpg, with good old leaded gas.
AMC cars were junk, but I was impressed by the fact that you could get that little bitty Gremlin with a fair-sized V-8. (304 cid, as I recall, and there was a rumor that there was a dealer who would put in a 360 for you.)
