Mike Jarel's article in the Summer 08 Edition of the SPHSTS Journal is an excellent article on the PE, later SP, "Air Line", soon to be Metro Expo Line. It was a great line to operate even in the diesel freight days, with the various branches to West Hollywood and Beverly Hills, Santa Monica Inglewood, or Venice Beach. It was a real salt of the earth line too, industries like the pasta works, Wonder Bread, a frech fry food processor, a wheel chair maker, lumber yards, and steel to team tracks for the "new" westside high rises. This lasted well into the 1980's.
