Some of the folks I used to meet with in down in El Centro and Imperial County, had many big rail dreams, too.

So, I do indeed remember the proposed Imperial County passenger train, which would run to and from LAUPT, from beautiful Calexico and El Centro, via Niland.

I also got to watch them waiting for the "miracle to occur", when the math for the restoration of the SDA&E, would miraculously "pencil out". What with the farmers dreams of shipping pit hundreds of carloads of spring wheat, to waiting Russian ships in the Port of San Diego, like they could, back in my mint youth on the SP, they had such high hopes, back then.

Alas, they are still waiting.
