If you would bother to do some research, you would find:
1) Having a tech on board is NOT "required" by anyone -- it is a feature of Talgo's maintenance program.
2) As a result of the quality of Talgo's product & maintenance program, the availability of its trainsets has been running 98-99% -- considerably better than anything else run by Amtrak.
3) There have been accidents involving Superliner & Amfleet equipment in which significantly more than 3 people have died.
And no, I don't work for Talgo either.
