If he's growing for the fresh market, he's shipping by truck, not train. It has to get there while it's still fresh. If he's growing for canning, he also ships by truck, since it's going to a cannery within easy (say, a few hundred miles) trucking distance. It doesn't go by rail unless it's going to the East Coast, and is picked nearly green, and even then he's trucking to Delano.
