Those so quick to jump on law enforcement need to keep in mind that the arresting officers in a DUI case are looking to protect the public from the all-too-many wrecks and fatalities caused by DUI. Once booked into a jail (usually a county jail) the arresting officers are out of the picture. Did the jail system fail the ill person? Many counties have little funding for adequate jail staff and for attending medical staff. Are the taxpayers willing to provide funds for a well-run jail? A lot of the time, the answer is a resounding NO.
