Phone app measurement, not calibrated noise meter. Not stated whether or what weighting was applied (should be A).

Fractional change, so no meaningful difference between measurements.

Not accounting for the character of the BART noise, 84-85 is typical to a bit quieter than usual for rail transit. The BART noise is, however, more annoying due to its frequency distribution. I've also noted a perceptible difference between light rail cars with the old-style controllers vs. newer ones (more annoying) with chopper or solid-state controls, even if the overall noise level is similar.
