Glad you shot 'em in October, too. Not too many people realize there are great fall color opportunities along the STMA. Historically there has not been a big slowdown in winter because the ground where they do the logging becomes frozen (meaning solid) and the equipment can pretty well handle snow. Oddly enough, the slowest time of year for log traffic has been late summer because fire danger restricts logging activity to a few hours at night. Curious about your ID of "Clarkia Logger." Did you see this name in print somewhere, or did they actually use it over the radio? The only name I've ever heard STMA use over the past quarter century for its run south of St. Maries is the "Branch Train."
