Staying on the bluff is not sustainable. The houses on top of the bluff themselves aren't sustainable. The ocean (rising or not, and it *is* rising) always wins.
SDNR will continue repairing the bluff as long as they can, because building a tunnel takes a long time and a lot of money. Ultimately the tunnel is needed. If you want to look even farther out (a hundred years is reasonable when talking about really big public works nvestments), other things along LOSSAN will also be needed to deal with the rising ocean, like relocating the San Clemente segment.
It's not just about you, and the world doesn't end when you leave.
