The crossing signals at the Hwy 902 crossing were tested on Thursday. The Western Rail guys were reportedly having a good time running at more than 10 MPH while running the new track. Almost 3 miles of near-tangent high iron and concrete ties on fresh ballast is a big difference. The line will have "final" inspection this coming Tuesday. I'm guessing that the end of Fairchild interchange will be at the changeover in service and the EWG will make the interchange point at Cheney from day one and the track through the base will go quiet.
It has been fun to take this project from a "greenfield" through the design (and the inevitable alterations), quantity calculations, construction, and inspection to where it is now. We are just glad that the County dealt with the Real Estate part.
