What I get out of the article is that riding the bus from Petaluma to the Caltrain station takes 2 hours. That by itself shows the traffic issues on 101 and getting through San Francisco.
The other thing is that people are complaining that the public transportation is not taking them to where they have to go without a lot of hassle. Yep, that why people drive.
When people are selecting transportation they usually select the method that gets them to where they want to go with the least amount of hassle in the least amount of time. Sitting in stop and go traffic is a rotten way to spend your time. At least having the train and ferry gives a person an option to do work or relax while commuting.
