Hutch maybe works in CA, and lives here because this is one of the ten wealthiest and best paid states in the US, and he makes good money here.

CA has one the largest percentages folks with more than a high school degree, and has more college undergraduates, graduate, and professional degrees (JD, MD, PhD) than the 9 states with higher percentages put together. And, is one of the highest income states. Which is maybe why CA is a "donor" state, that only gets back about 95% of the taxes we pay the Federal "gubmint" back, because we have to pick up the slack, on about 23 (what is the latest number on that?) poorer CA "welfare" benefitting, recipient states.

Maybe, he works in any industry that has a connection to trade, since, CA carries through it nearly half the value of imports, and has 3 of the most cost effective and direct rail routes to transport it to the rest of the country. Where, those awful ILWU guys, with a strong union, can still knock down a couple of hundred K a year, with OT, unloading those containers.

Maybe, he works for a studio, or production company, who are based overwhelmingly here. Even the teamsters driving the stuff to locations make better three of four times the wages most non-union truck drivers do in anti-union states.

Maybe he works for SpaceX or JPL? Or maybe, Laurence Livermore, or UC Davis, or USC, or Stanford, or City of Hope, doing research on everything from space, to advanced materials, to the cures for cancers?

Maybe he is working on AI? Or, maybe he's working for Tesla? Or, maybe he's installing solar panels? Or, maybe he's just one of the millions of folks supporting all of the folks that are doing those things...

Maybe, he works in tourism, one of CA's largest employers, at Magic Mountain, Knott's Berry Farm, Magic Mountain, Universal, Sequoia, Kings Canyon, Yosemite, Death Valley, Joshua Tree, the Redwoods State Park, Mammoth Mountain, in cultural tourism at the Getty, the Norton Simon, the Huntington Library, or even driving the Hollywood Site Seeing Buses... Maybe, he works in RR tourism at the Sierra, or the CSRM, or Roaring Camp...?

Maybe, he's in construction, a contractor, or in some other trade, because we do have the largest population and the most building, and the biggest freeway system, and water system in the nation, with a lot of work, that provides. Or, maybe, he's connected to the building homes, or that "evil" "in-fill", or even on a new subway line, or commuter project like Redlands?

Or, maybe, Hutch just likes the rich rail history of CA, and the fact that we have one of the best intercity, and urban commute networks in the US, and you can sit at the Fullerton depot, sipping a cold beer, watching the sunset on a nice spring afternoon and see more passenger and freight action in a few hours, than most folks have seen, in 90% of the country, in the last year.

Maybe, it's just the weather, as one of my friends, retired out of CA, to one of these rural paradises, just mostly spent last week, shoveling snow, so he could get his car free, to drive seventy five miles, to the nearest medical office, for his appointment...

I don't know why Hutch is here, except for the pretty good reasons he gives, work and family. But, I do know that he posts some good rail stuff he finds, though, and that trolls like you never do.

That RR history and action, would be enough, for a lot of folks. That's because this is supposed to be a rail board.

AP was started as train board. It wasn't supposed to be the I hate CA discussion board (or, an I hate, "fill in the politics, race, sex.. blank", site), for a tiny pile of losers, and the daily dose of pus they seem to always spew, about how much they hate CA, or whoever else they hate and blame for the condition of their pathetic lives....

Nope, LOL, maybe you're not from CA... Maybe, given the type of content, you could be posting from a broken down RV, outside of a tweeker shooting gallery and glory hole, somewhere out in one of America's rural opioid and meth consuming low wage economic powerhouses...? Or maybe, these days, even from Moscow, or St. Petersburg...?

And, PDX please stop baiting them... I know it can be tempting. They are so predictable, and that making fools of them can be like "shooting fish in a barrel" (that's a metaphor, too), because this handful of trolls are usually such pathetic losers, that they make an easy target... But try... I'm even trying... Although, I do know that when you read some of the stupid crap that these nitwits spew, it's real hard....

As Samuel L Jackson said, in that last scene (shot right here in CA), "I'm trying real hard..."

But, I couldn't control myself on this one, so I'm hitting post....
