MH is definitely advertising excursions every weekend through the end of April and is advertising all three classes of service, so they must have access to at least one dome car or their ticket agents will have to deliver the bad news to customers who call in. All tickets are being sold by phone, not online. Also, the trains are only running to Odell but seemingly for the same high price as running all the way to Parkdale ($60 for the dome, $50 in the lower level of the dome, $40 for the crap commuter cars.)

I hope whoever is running the MH now takes a hard look at the passenger fleet. The dome cars are nice but ride horribly on the track. The commuter cars are just crap, look like crap, the windows are etched and offer poor visibility, but at least they have A/C in the summer. The original cars, the ex-UP cars, are just in horrible condition with their bodies rusted all the way through in places; the seats uncomfortable and no A/C for the summer months. I'd think the MH would be wise to look at the RDCs that are for sale in Idaho (the ones that ran on the Lewis & Clark Excursion Train, then went to Wallowa Union, and then the Thunder Mountain Line) - provided they have enough power to get up the hill. Lower operating costs, and works great for the switchback. And, lower the ticket price. The train is definitely **NOT** worth $40-60 per person to ride.
