A bit of Leavenworth history

As we all know, the GN main followed the river down into Leavenworth. Note the generating station and the steel bridge. There were/are packing plants in Leavenworth, so the trackage from downtown out to near the present station was retained for some years.

The overhead contact system maintenance car was parked in Leavenworth. The operating and electrical crews bussed from Appleyard. The double-ended car appeared to have been the lead for a granger local. Mail and baggage compartments; towed a coach. Remember the story about the two-foot square doorways on each end of the mail compartment?
