If domestic lumber shipping could be containerized, maybe the NWP around Humboldt Bay could be used to haul containers to the port of Eureka to load on container ships of some sort, and then haul the containers to the nearest port (Coos Bay or Oakland) where they could be transferred to railroads.
Just an idea.
