A shortline would make sense, as would w state or other government agency taking ownership. If government, that would give a passenger corridor for SF/bay area to LA/SD. With the bullet train floundering, it would preserve something, tho wouldn't be competitive for a strictly business traveler. If a shortline or bridge line, would they be able to maintain the track for passenger standards? Is there any shortline in the country of considerable length that hosts an Amtrak train?
