The 1939 Wreck of The Streamliner City of San Francisco took place in Harney, Nevada, between Carlin and Beowawe. Though Espee insisted the track was sabotaged, and a HUGE reward was offered, no person was ever charged with the crime, nor was any solid motive for sabotage offered. Interestingly, Espee would make a track relocation at the site of the derailment only 2 years later, eliminating the 5th crossing of the Humboldt River and its' curves entirely.
