To answer the poster's question...yes...I was born in Portland and lived most of my life in the Milwaukie area. I went to kindergarten in Oak Grove where i witnessed log trains coming across the trestle from Lake Oswego to the Menefee log dump. We took field trips to watch the steam powered loggers and i witnessed the first six-axle 5200 series Baldwin road switcher go on the ground at the west end of Menefee siding. I remember the two-track interchange with the Portland Traction Oregon City line at Island Station which was called "Milwaukie Interchange". In my collection I have the brass PRL&P switch lock from the Milwaukie Interchange derail.

I have memories of a SP steam piledriver working on the Milwaukie trestle over Kellog Lake and I remember the Portland Traction streetcars sparking on the overhead and later the SW-1 switchers moving freight over the system.

My 4000 plus photos have recorded probably the best years of my 76 years in the area.

Graduated from Milwaukie High in 1962 worked for Portland Terminal for two years operating ALCO switchers...operated a steel fabrication business for 25 years and in 1991 purchased the Portland Traction Company rail operations and in 1993 the SP Molalla Branch. The line from Milwaukie to Boring was abandoned and removed for salvage

At 76 years of age it's been an awesome run and am looking forward to another ten years of railroading.
