The title in the original post is misleading. Being selected to lead a presidential transition team is an honor, but it does not constitute a "promotion." Unless Mr. Washington is offered a position in Washington, he will presumably return to his Los Angeles position once the transition work is completed.

As someone who is both public transportation professional and user, I am glad that Mr. Washington was selected for this effort and not a highway, trucking, automobile, automated vehicle or pipeline dude or dude-ette or an ideologue from the Heritage Foundation or Cato Institute.
