The E-8 was traveling West to the Raritan Engine house. The Raritan Engine House was capable of painting locomotives. In 1978, this facility started painting NJ DOT owned units in their dark blue and silver paint scheme and later the NJ TRANSIT Disco scheme. GP-7's, GP-40's, U34CH's and E-8's were among the DOT units painted at this facility. The famous Tuscan Red GG-1 #4877 was painted at this facility.
