Years ago on a driving tour of Milwaukee Road Lines West between Ellensburg ( actually Thorp ) and Easton, WA., the state park rangers said they are essentially still maintaining a railroad, it's just one with no track or overhead wire. Fallen trees & clogged culverts have to be cleared each spring, and several hike - in campsites require attention. Trailheads are maintained & patrolled, and illegal road crossings & tree cutting policed. The buried phone cables & Power line easements require attention too, which mean escorts in & out.
Did Espee ever sell or lease R of W easement for phone lines in Eel River Cyn. ?
