As indicated the Army uses Yermo as the unloading point for units going to training at Fort Irwin. My son is a Sergeant with a Stryker Brigade stationed at Fort Lewis. They loaded their vehicles on onto railcars last week, heading to desert training at Fort Irwin that starts Aug. 1. My guess that its his units train that is on the MRL detour.
My son actually doesn't look forward to the unloading at Yermo, followed by getting all the Stryker's up to Fort Irwin on flatbed trucks. Just a hot and dirty process all around.
