I have no information on this particular issue but I would strongly recommend a new book From Rails to Trails by Peter Harnik from the University of Nebraska Press. I did not know for instance that the maximum railroad build out in the USA was in 1916. Not all bike riders are bad....preservation of defunk rail corridors is, in my opinion, a VERY worthwhile endeavor.

It is my understanding that this gap in the Burke Gilman Trail is funded and will be closed.
