Without getting too political, don't rely on the current BC Government to pitch in on funding the second Amtrak train after a few years. The "cut out the fat" way every party has been since about 1992 has ruled the majority of voters here. Everything gets cut here. Even small town hospitals get the wrecking ball.

Like usual in any situation, the NIMBY's in White Rock, BC (kind of like a really small Santa Cruz filled with Morrow Bay residents (I really mean no offence to any place or persons) are protesting the arrival of another Amtrak train to their waterfront. Well there is a treasured train station that has been converted to a museum. This train station is even pictured on each residence's phone book. At one time there was a passing siding along the waterfront, and the trains would take families into Vancouver for shopping- I mean the entire reason that houses were originally built there was because of the railroads. The hate for the railroads so immense, this year, on the summer solstice, a mass "mooning" is supposedly going to take place in White Rock. And no wonder the trains don't stop there anymore...........
