Well, I don't think they actually ever hit the methane... I think the shopping center on 3rd blew up and they realized the danger... but that being said, from what I understand, technology has since advanced to a point that they can drill safely even in a methane zone.

Yes, the two lines will essentially serve the same population, sort of the same way the I10 and the 60 Freeway both serve the same population area today.

That's a really long way off, however. I wouldn't hold my breath.
