Many of Germany' rail lines are currently at capacity -- with frequent delays due to congestion.

A growing trend is that some fast freight trains are being run during off-peak periods on so-called high-speed passenger lines.

Many people will take the advantage of city-center to city-center travel that is offered by rail over having to go to an airport hours before departure.
