Originally T&NO/SP has I previously stated.

BNSF purchased the portion between Avondale and Iowa Jct (east of Lake Charles) and obtained operating rights and access to NEW customers between Iowa Jct and Houston as a condition of the UP/SP merger, and subsequently obtained half ownership with UP between those two points.
