Back in the 80s the west bound Z train hit a trespasser at Buena Vista Street on the Santa Barbara Sub, its back end was in the middle of the crossovers at Burbank Jct, Trains including #12 were stacked up blocking many crossings from Alan Ave to Vineland to Northridge and Sun Valley
Even though the Coroner showed and took the body away, The police still would not release the Z, So Dayton Tower and the Saugus dispatcher started packing in more trains to block more crossings, a few trains died on the hours and relief crews were in gridlock, It took the chief of police to order the officers to release that train!
It took about 6 hour to get things moving
I don't think an incident like that has happened since then
A few grade separations have been done in those areas
