Re: Gold line Pomona extension at 50% completion. No, this has nothing to do with the authority, and is partly why the Sheriff got 32% of the vote?
Security has become a problem. But, this has nothing whatsoever to do with the fine job the Gold Line JPA is doing builiding the Pomona extension.
But, did you bother to read the article in the Star News? So, who is investigating this incident in South Pasadena, and reviewing our extensive security camera footage to id perps, if the "Sheriff" is currently "on-strke" at tbe MTA?
The "Sheriff", in his refusing to honor his agencies contractual obligations and his sworn oath of office, by demanding MTA "kow-tow" to his grandstanding egocentric political "shakedown" of the MTA Board, by carrying out his irresponsible threats not to enforce the law on Metro, just got 32% of the vote and is now in a run off for his job.
I'll also note that under better and a more properly focused leadership, after 9/11, that the Sheriff's Department did a pretty good job on Metro security. We had more "transit" focused security under the old SCRTD Transit Police, which were folded into the Sheriff.
As I noted to FUD, people and purpose matter a lot, when things go right, too.... MTA's current unfocused overly politicized management, and the grandstanding stunts of the current incumbent Sheriif certainly do leave a lot to be desired on that score... The current DA is an idiot too. And, we probably needed to do a better job of training our replacements....
