CAHSR as a Kopp Kreation definitely didn't get a good start in terms of political interference. The Proposition has so many conflicting mandates that one wonders (as I have several times) whether it was ever intended to produce actual HSR - or just money that could be used for local/commute transit projects of varying degrees of usefulness, as was set out in the "connections" part of the package.

Glad the Gold Line (construction at least) is working out well. Glad the Caltrain electrification is happening, and isn't TOO far behind schedule and over budget. Glad the LAUS run-through scheme finally got some money (hire the Gold Line people to get it done? has anybody started buying the r/w?). Good things do happen, occasionally.
