Re: V & T Railroad "NAME RIGHTS" .etc...
There is another locomotive that could be used. The FRSL has # 8 being repaired as a result of a settlement to a lawsuit with the V&T. The # 8 is in Virginia City now and will be able to handle the curves and grades, with a shortened train. The # 8 can handle a full sized train from Carson City to Gold Hill. The # 18 is designed for a maximum of 15 degrees and the V&T has curves stated to be as much as 19 degrees with a 4% grade. A full train will need help with that part of the trip. It has been the intention of the FRSL Board to work out an agreement to place the # 8 in the care of the State Commission for use with the # 18. Since we also feel comfortable with the management with the Sierra, I am sure something can be worked out. I will keep the group advised as to the progress on this point.
