When I first found out the RMC-Lonestar had become CEMEX, I had the feeling this did not bode well for the future of the plant at Davenport or the former SP branch which served it. Leaving my wise-ass comment about Mexico taking back California aside, why would not CEMEX have the incentive to close the Davenport plant? Its production replaced with product from a Mexican plant produced with cheaper labor and production costs.
If the "stimulus" plan is going to result in all these construction projects, why the hell should we be buying cement from Mexico, China, or anywhere else? Yes sir, NAFTA at its best.
